COSTA MESA HIGHLIGHTS

Jim Mansfield shoots a 1 under (69) winning first place gross in the A flight, his 4 birdies and 1 eagle was good for 2 gross & 2 net skins, he also wins first place low putts (29) tied with Mark Hardin, Cliff Adams and Brad Webster.   Fermin Andres wins first net (65) and both sides of the long drive with his 267 drive on hole # 7.  Bob Sykes wins 2nd gross in A flight and his birdie on # 12 gives him a gross skin.  Javier Chavez beats Clinton Cox on the 3rd tie breaker hole to take down 2nd net (70).  Both of Chavez’s birds hold up for gross skins.

Brad Webster wins 1st place gross in the B flight with an 80.  Rob Sharp takes down first net (66).  Jason Bouzos wins 2nd gross (81) and his birdie on # 15 gives him a gross skin.   Bob Lindner wins the tie breaker over Bob Malachowski and wins 2nd net (69) and his birdie on # 17 gives him a gross skin.

JP David wins first place gross in the C flight (86) his 2 birds today gave him 1 net skin on hole # 16.  Paul Hailey stays hot on away courses winning first place net (63).  Dan Williams solid play gives him 2nd place gross (87).  Dan La Rue wins 2nd net (66) and he had the only birdie on hole # 3 but will have to settle for a net skin.

Other winnersGrant Clarke, Pat Kanczuzewski and Bill McClary win the closest to the pins today.  David Tartaglio wins $23 for his 23’4” long putt.  Gary Campuzano’s bird on # 8 wins him a net skin (Chavez thanks you for not getting in gross skins) and his double pop par on # 10 also gives him his 2nd  net skin.

Birch Hills Cup: Jim Mansfield & JP David earn 15 points for their 8 under par net (62) today moving Mansfield into first place and JP to 9th.   The Top 12 point leaders will make the Birch Hills Match Play team and play David L. Baker in September.  There is still time to pay your $10 for the regular season to earn points.  All those who pay the $10 qualify to get in the playoffs and a chance at $500 that will be in the pot by then.

SCGA Away Net Rankings:  Our Men’s Club pays for 2 players every year.  This year the 1 player with the best 4 away net scores will represent our club and pick this partner.  You must play in at least 4 away tournament (and have an index of 18.4 or lower to qualify).  The last away tournament to qualify for this event is in July at Dad Miller.  There is no extra cost to get in this.  Jim Mansfield keeps track of all away net scores.   As of now Jim Mansfield has the lead -22 (4 best scores) Jason Bouzos, Mark Hardin and Fermin Andres are tied for 2nd with -12 and Clinton Cox is in 5th place with -7.  The more away tournament you play the better chance you have.  You can throw out your bad rounds and keep your best 4.
